In Europe, Australia and other parts of the world, EN 60118-13 is mostly applied.

For the US, initial regulation was incorporated in the Hearing Aid Compatibility At of 1988, with cellphones excempted. Nowadays, the FCC aims to have a certain number of cellphones available on the market to be HAC compliant with ANSI C63.19, where M3/4 and T3/4 are the specified ratings, indicating the level of compatibility with hearing aid devices.
