FCC DoC procedure
USA FCC, Part 15B devices that allow for authorization under Declartion of Conformity (DoC) must bear the FCC DoC logo on the device label (not in the user manual), along with trade name and model number per 15.19(b)1. If additional Certification applies under 15C or other intentional radiator rule part, the FCC ID shall be printed additionally on the device label. A DoC letter shall be drawn up by a US legal entity, refering to the test report (from an accredited lab), rule part section used, manufacturer name, trade name and model(s).

FCC Test Labs
USA, Test labs for FCC authorization by certification must have a registered OATS or FAR. Thes labs do not require accreditation. It is the task of the TCB to ensure the test results were obtained in a proper and skilled manner. For the purpose of FCC authorization under Declaration of Conformity, the laboratory must be accredited. Accredited labs can only be found in MRA countries, where the USA has closed a sectorial (telecommunications) agreement with. Europe, according the R&TTE directive, end users may be instructed how to select the regulatory domain correctly, but the device shall never be able to send on frequencies not harmonized or allowed in certain memberstates. This is completely different in the US, where an end user shall never be able to bring the device out of compliance, by choosing accidentially the wrong settings.

FCC LED authorization
For FCC, LEDs lights (bulbs, tubes, lamps) using internal converters with a switching rate over 9kHz shall be tested for part 15B and authorized by the Verification procedure (only verification testing). As such, it is not allowed to print or use the FCC logo, and not appropriate to issue a DoC, neither possible to apply for Certification. FCC draft DTS guidance
USA FCC, currently (Yes, again!) a new DTS measurement guidance document is in Draft in the FCC KDB. This will soon (modified or not) be the only acceptable way to perform part 15.247 DTS measurements. The new procedure will require additional information for the RF power over the different data rates, modified power density measurement method, modified 6dB bandwidth measurements, etc. Please take a look as soon as possible and check the changes that may (will) affect your testing preparations very soon. The last date to provide comments to the FCC KDB for the new procedure is 2012-04-21.
Until publication, you can use the
current DTS
measurement procedure, but this
old DTS
measurement procedure shall not be used.

RFID in Japan moving to 920MHz
Japan, the UHD RFID band in Japan from 950-958MHz will move to 915-928MHz. The advantage will be improved data transfer for high power tags, and passive devices in the new band will be unlicensed. The new band will be possible to use (after certification) from July 25, 2012.

Japan MIC ID labeling change
Japan, MIC has implemented a new MIC ID numbering system, allowing more technologies and certification updates under ONE and the same MIC ID.
The new number still refers to the three numbers of the issuing CAB, then a "-" sign, and finishes up with no more than 6 characters behind.
